Jane Lois Swinehart
Jane Lois Swinehart
Jane Lois was born to Effie Elizabeth and William Preston Bible in Covington KY on April 10, 1932. Her childhood and young adult years were spent in Cincinnati Ohio.
In 1948, at 16 years of age, she left home to attend Bible School in Salem, OH. She later, obtained a degree in music at People's Bible College in Colorado Springs, CO. She taught elementary school in Ohio for two years and traveled with a women's quartet during the summers. In May, 1957 Jane was married to Donald Swinehart whom she met during her years at People's Bible College. They held two pastorates (Hunter, KS & Hayes Center NE)
In 1963, Donald and Jane moved to NJ where their two daughters grew up. In1997 they relocated to Sumas, Washington to be closer to their grandchildren.
Jane was passionate about health and the natural remedies God has so wisely created for us. She delighted to share these newfound solutions with others and cared deeply for the health of all those she encountered. As an accomplished, self-taught seamstress -She could look at almost any finished product then go reproduce it! A tireless worker, she loved spending time in her yard and making beautiful spaces. The combination of a job well done, and the time spent there with her canine companion Lucy Mae brought her much joy. Her family is left with many special memories of car rides and day trips taking in the simple wonders of the Pacific Northwest. She was a beloved grandma and great-grandma; known for her creative treats and warm hugs.
In April of this year Jane wrote:
“I'm looking forward to my last move, to that City foursquare.
‘O, I would not want to miss it,
Walking up those streets of gold,
With the saints and martyrs, Blood washed,
Playing on their harps of gold.
Oh, the music and the singing of that chorus will be grand;
As we meet our Christ and loved ones,
over in the Glory Land.’
Let's all covenant together to be there with spotless garments - no more sin and sorrow..."
Only God knew that in less than 3 months that "move" would become a reality!
Donald preceded her in death (January 2014).
She is survived by her daughters, Donna Minten (John) and Janice Halbert (Silas). Grandson Benny Halbert and Granddaughter Dana Halbert-Boag (Patrick). Great Granddaughter Abigail Boag.
