2. If I pre-paid with
another funeral home,
do I have to use them?
NO! Look over your paperwork and determine if you have your pre-paid money held in a trust or an insurance policy. You may request a refund if your money is in a trust or change the beneficiary of the insurance policy by notifying the insurance company. Regardless, when Funeral and Cremation Care provides the actual funeral services for your family we will be able to collect from any prepaid funds.
3. What if my loved one was taken to another funeral
home, can I still have Funeral and Cremation Care
handle the arrangements?
Yes! Notify us as quickly as possible and have us pick up your loved one. There will be a charge from the first funeral home for the transportation from place of death. You will probably need to pay this amount before they will release your loved one. These costs vary, but may be as much as $250-600. In most cases even after paying this charge, your overall cost will still be lower by using our Simple Plans.
4. What is the difference between a Funeral Home
and our Arrangement Center Office?
A funeral home is the traditional brick and mortar funeral establishment, with a building large enough for chapel services. These larger establishments carry higher overhead costs. We simply have an arrangements office in an office building; our funeral director will handle all details over the phone, fax and e-mail. More and more families are choosing Simple Cremation or Simple Burial arrangements with us and don’t need a fancy building or a chapel with a flat-screen TV or a hearse or limousine.
5. How does Peoples Memorial Association compare
with our costs?
First, PMA states that they are a not-for-profit organization.
Yet, their fees are much higher than ours. Our business is
family-owned. Secondly, PMA charges an unneeded
sign-up fee for cremation services. Thirdly, PMA wants your
money up front…NOW. We encourage you to keep it until
time of death.
6. What is the $50.00 King County Disposition Tax?
We include the $50.00 King County Disposition Tax in our
economical cremation price and not charge extra like the
chain and corporate funeral homes in the Seattle Area.
7. What is our Service Area?
We provide care throughout Washington State and the
neighboring cities along the Idaho and Oregon border.
We have Arrangement Centers located in Bellevue,
Bellingham and the Tri-Cities. Our Cremation Care Centers
are located in Spokane, Kent and Portland.
When you make Simple Arrangements there is no
need to go to a funeral home and spend hours making
arrangements and experiencing sales techniques to increase
the funeral homes average sales quota. We help people in a
lot of different places throughout the Puget Sound Region
and all areas of Washington State.
8. Do we charge mileage fees?
Not at all! Ask any funeral provider in your area and they will
share with you their complex formula that charges you per
mile outside of their service area and usually $2.00 to $4.00
per mile one-way. With our service throughout Washington
State you only pay a fixed Statewide Transportation Fee of
$150.00 which is only applicable in certain areas.
9. Why do families choose us?
We honor your wishes. We don’t attempt to change your
mind or formulate responses to change your wishes; many
multi-generational or corporate firms do this to meet their
sales goals. We care for you as we would care for our own
family. Helping you however we can. A corporate firm can’t
do this with headquarters out of state and most of the family
firms have lost their core values over generations of passed-
on ownership by inheritance….it means less to them and so
do you.
